Each year we partner with the Provincial Department of Labour and Advanced Education to offer a series of FREE Business Skills Courses through their Workplace Education Initiative. This initiative promotes learning at work and supports the development of business owners and their employees by gaining the skills you need to innovate and compete.

We offer these courses approximately three times a year starting in January, May and September. Each course is 11 weeks long and take place here in The Village on Main.

While COVID-19 and social distancing directives to not allow the classes to meet in person, we are currently offering them online.

Eligibility — Any person residing in Nova Scotia, who is employed or self-employed is eligible to apply to this course. You will have to commit to participate and attend minimum 80% of the time to be entitled to receive the certificate. This is a 40 hours course. Due to the COVID 19 crisis, this course will be delivered Online. Must be accepted into the courses with an INA (Individual Needs Assessment) conducted by the Instructor

COURSE NAME: Business Tax & Financial Essentials (Financial Fundamentals I)

By the end of this course, you will have a better understanding of Tax compliance and: bookkeeping fundamentals, financial statements, developing budgets and cash flow projections, Government reporting requirements, Pricing products and basic financial analysis.
