In 2008, in response to growing concerns from area businesses, the Main Street Dartmouth & Area Business Improvement District Association was legally formed and registered as a non-profit organization.
In 2015, we changed our name to The Village on Main Community Improvement District. While legally we are still registered as a Business Improvement District, we consider ourselves to be a Community Improvement District because the work we do benefits more than just businesses. We are more than just a Main Street; we are a community. We also adopted the tagline “Change is Good, Transformation is Better”
When we changed our name, we also re-branded. Our new logo consists of two linked speech bubbles. The bubbles are meant to represent our community as one; where all opinions matter, people are engaged and inclusive, and discussions are open and respectful.
